3/27/11

The boys and I were talking tonight before bed and we decided it had been a pretty good week.
The highlights for them....

Jackson's Birthday Party
* Ben getting to go to a birthday party with a train. Eating cake!

* Ben getting to eat sonic for lunch at mother's day out because I forgot to pack his lunch, well I actually forgot that he was at mother's day out at all that day and they had to call and remind me where he was!

*Ben and Charlie helping me make headbands for baby Ellodie which quickly turned into some kind of a Samuri/Ninja game that boys like to play??

Charlie after his sand cake

*Enjoying the last warm day before the cold front at the park. Ben made "chocolate cake" out of the sand. While Chars on the other hand, taking him literally, ate a LARGE amount of sand before figuring out it was not actually chocolate cake.

*Ben and Chars had a water drinking contest at home before Ben had to go have his blood drawn. Ben would probably not include getting his blood drawn on the list of good things this week!

Grandpa Jim holding Ellodie

*Grandma Barbara's birthday party, more cake!!!

The highlights of my week included....

1. Having a conversation with Ben on the kiddy train at the party in which he bluntly told me everything about his classmates, who's parents were all in earshot. For example....that boy is nice but he starts lots of fights in school, that boy has long hair but he isn't a girl but his hair looks like a girl, huh?, And on and on and on while I attempted to change the subject!!!

2. Forgeting that my son went from preschool to mother's day out and wondering "huh, that's strange, he should be home by now... I wonder were he could be?''. Finally a call came in that he needed food. He was the only on without lunch!

Mom's favorite outfit
3. Arguing with my sweet son Chars about Ellodie's outfits. For example, he felt that the outfit below just wasn't cute. He insisted I change her. BTW, this happens to be my favorite outfit of hers. I try to save time now by just running all clothing options by him before getting her dressed.

 4. Changing so many poopy diapers I lost track after Chars ate all that sand.

5. Also getting to change Ben's clothes 3 times in one day after he had accidents as a result of my brilliant idea to have a water drinking contest!

Charlie and Ellodie

This is the best of all though...this very sweet pic of chars taking a nap with Ellodie. It is from a few weeks ago but he still sleeps with her at nap time nearly every day and I love it! They are very sweet with her and I couldn't ask for them to be any better big brothers!

Lord of the Flies

3/20/11
The Waugh boys had an excellent day yesterday and they wanted me to share it with you.  They started their day off by watching cartoons, which let’s be honest, they would do ALL DAY if not for my wonderful mothering skills!  After that we split up.  Chars went with Dad to get flowers for the yard while Ben and Ellodie went with me to the bookstore for story time.  I am sure this is not going to come as a surprise to anyone…..Ben picked out a book about a Dragon.  He loved it because it came with a 3-D puzzle of a “frost dragon” that Scott and I are STILL trying to figure out how to put together.   So when we got home, the boys got geared up to dig in the yard with Dad and I snuggled with Ellodie, which I would do ALL DAY if not for life getting in the way. All the neighborhood kids ended up in the yard “helping” Scott plant flowers.  I always think it is soooo funny when he gets focused and ready to get a project done and something like that happens!  At any rate, the flowers did eventually get planted and it looks beautiful.

Finally that night, the kids from the neighborhood got together at the Pittman’s house and played.  We have way too many boys on this street and when they get together it is hilarious.  Scott included the video below of them all on the trampoline.  He has been referring to the entire evening as “Lord of the Flies”.

On a sad note, the bird from the wreath on the front door has abandon its nest.  We hope it comes back but at least I can change it to a spring motif!
I just didn't want to leave her out! Token Elloide pic!

Ben, Charlie, and I decided this morning we should start this journal together because we have so many funny stories to tell.   Why just this morning we had a funny thing happen.  Uncle Anthony had been here visiting.  He got up very early to leave and Ben and I got up with him to wish him off.  When he opened the front door, a bird flew through my hair and into the house.  She flew everywhere around the room before landing on the fake trees in the living room.  Upon further inspection, Ben and I realized she had made her nest in the wreath on our front door.  There were no eggs in the nest.  We woke up Dad to help get the bird out of the house.  Charlie was asleep in his bed and Uncle Anthony had to rush off so not to miss his flight.  Scott chased the bird all over the house when finally it flew upstairs.  All the doors were closed, so Scott thought he had her cornered when she decided to sneak under Charlie’s door and hide in his closet.  All of this woke Charlie, who was so excited to find a bird flying around in his room.  Eventually the mommy bird flew out the front door.  Scott thinks we should leave her nest on the door and just knock on it every time before we open the door.  Ben thinks we should just use the back door until she is done with our wreath.  I am more just fixated on the fact that the wreath is decorated for winter and I need to change the décor to spring.  We will see what happens!

A 2-year-old and a Baby

Charlie celebrated his second birthday on Sunday with several friends. His mom made him a remarkable cake that looked like Mike from Monsters Inc. He had a wonderful time playing on the playground and seeing all his friends. He did have one big fall off the ladder but this is typical for Charlie. So typical, in fact, he did the exact same thing the last time he was at Unpluggits. He was not phased and continued to try to get up the ladder. A hard-headed Waugh (Or maybe an Anderson). Thanks to everyone who was there and thanks for all the gifts. We are still trying to decide which one is our favorite.

Ellodie is doing well. She is really packing on the weight. She eats like a champ but mostly just at night...when we are trying to sleep. I'm fortunate that I don't have to get up much at night but it seems there is always something, like the dead batteries in the smoke alarm at 3AM. Ellie is scheduled for her one month check-up on Thursday and I expect she will pass with flying colors. She loves her uncle Anthony who is here this week, or at least until tomorrow. I'm not sure if he'll ever stay here again though as a hotel will be much calmer and quieter than the Waugh household.

Ben is also doing well. He is on Spring Break this week and home with Charlie and Ellie. He loves his little sister and is trying to be helpful...sometimes. He had his first soccer game on Saturday and had a lot of fun. We notched our first loss so we have a lot of work to do as a team. We are starting two-a-days this week!
